April Break In The US Virgin Islands

Every April, we head to the US Virgin Islands to visit my husband’s family—his parents, sister, and my angelic nieces. It’s one of those trips I look forward to all year, not because it’s packed with plans, but because it’s the complete opposite.

This is a slow, sun-soaked, no-pressure kind of vacation.

My sister-in-law is a boat captain (still think that’s the coolest job ever), so most days revolve around being out on the water—hopping from beach to beach, anchoring somewhere beautiful, and letting the kids run wild in the sand. It’s equal parts boating, beach, and doing absolutely nothing in the best way.

No schedules. No overthinking. Just salt air, sunshine, and time together.

What I Actually Pack (And Wear on Repeat).

After years of traveling like this, I’ve learned to keep it simple. These are the kinds of pieces I reach for every single day:

Easy Sandals
Something you can slip on and off all day—boat to beach to dinner. Comfortable, durable, and still cute.
👉 I’ve been living in the Birkenstock EVA Madrid Sandals on this trip.

Lightweight Layers
Even in the heat, I always want something easy to throw on—especially after a long day in the sun.
👉 The Perfect White Tee Blondie is exactly that easy, throw-on piece.

Go-To Tote or Beach Bag
Big enough for sunscreen, snacks, and whatever the kids hand me throughout the day.
👉 I always bring my Z Supply Woven Jute Tote—it fits everything without feeling bulky.

Tortoise Sunglasses
A good pair of sunglasses is non-negotiable—easy, goes with everything, and instantly pulls you together.
👉 I always pack my Tortoise Ray-Bans and wear them nonstop.

Denim You Can Throw On With Anything
Easy, lived-in shorts that go from beach to lunch without overthinking it.
👉 I live in the AGolde Parker Shorts—they work with everything.

💛 The Kind of Trip That Sticks With You

There’s something about this trip that always resets me. Maybe it’s the simplicity, or maybe it’s just being surrounded by family in such a beautiful place—but it’s a reminder that you don’t need much to feel really good.

Good weather. Good people. A boat helps too.
